Celbridge CFR
ABOUT US
Celbridge Community First Responders is a registered charity of volunteer first responders serving Celbridge and its environs.
We are Garda-vetted, insured, trained and certified to respond to cardiac-related medical emergencies in the area, alongside the National Ambulance Service.
Our volunteer responders are on hand to respond to anything from a cardiac arrest where our high quality CPR skills and our use of an AED will help increase the chances of survival. We also attend less critical calls so we can offer support, and start treatment until the ambulance arrive.
IS CFR FOR YOU?
Most of our volunteer CFRs have no medical background or training. Full training is provided, along with the vetting and certification required.
We operate a rota of on-call so responders who are available at a given time will receive a dispatch text message with details of where to go. A CFR “buddy” will follow you there. You’ll learn the skills you need to quickly assess the patient, and the scene, along with initiating any medical treatment required.
Sometimes our mere presence is reassurance for the family/patient, without us having to do anything at all! It really is a supportive role and only a small minority of calls involve CPR on an unresponsive patient.
If you’re looking for a way to contribute to an incredible local community service, are physically able to do CPR, are over 18 and have a means of transport to local addresses, then this could be for you!
You do not have to be a medical professional, have any prior medical training, and we are an equal opportunity charity with a mix of all sorts. You do need to be living, or working, locally, and be available for on call a few hours every month.
Why not get in touch and come to one of our training nights to see what we do, and see if it’s for you.
