Meet the NAS Community Engagement Team
The National Ambulance Service Community Engagement team is responsible for the management and integration of first responder teams across the country.
The National Ambulance Service attends over 330,000 calls per year including many serious and life threating cardiac emergencies. Community First Responders are an integral part of dealing with these emergencies in the community in that they provide the vital lifesaving treatment to patients while an ambulance is on route.
NAS supports nearly 300 first responder schemes and just over 3,000 volunteers around Ireland providing first responder and community training on a regular basis with a further 60 public access defibrillator programmes located nationwide. However our goal is to ensure that every patient who needs resuscitation treatment across Ireland gets timely access to a community response while awaiting an ambulance.
