Funding for the NAS CFR App development project was secured earlier this year and followed closely by an EU tendering process which was awarded to Nearform, a company with great depth and breadth of experience in this field. The procurement and development of the app is being done through a collaboration between the NAS, the wider HSE and Nearform and we expect to have a prototype in the hands of a pilot user group by the end of 2024.
For the development to be successful, there is a significant amount of work being done behind the scenes to design and develop the app to suit the needs of Irish CFRs’ and involves such things infrastructural changes to the computer-aided dispatch system in NEOC and cyber security software developments to maintain a safe environment for in which the app will function.
The community engagement team will be working closely with selected pilot groups over the next number of months and is currently working on plans for training and app roll-out. As the development progresses, we will send out monthly updates on Moodle, by newsletter (email) and on becomeacfr.ie/nascfrapp.
We will have CFRs at the forefront of this project and all feedback received will be greatly appreciated and considered, this will ensure that we deliver the best CFR app possible for the Irish CFR network.
We ask that you please be patient as we move through the various stages of development and we will keep you updated below.
