The European Restart a Heart Day was founded with the support of the European parliament and takes place on the 16th of October every year. With this campaign we want to create awareness that everyone can learn CPR and facilitate BLS courses in schools and public locations. This years campaign slogan is Check, Call, Compress, Shock #checkcallcompressshock
Events take place all across Ireland with the support of Ireland’s frontline and voluntary agencies. Restart a Heart Day is delighted to work with the Irish Heart Foundation, PHECC, National Ambulance Service, Dublin Fire Brigade, Community First Responder Teams, Civil Defence, St. Johns Ambulance Service of Ireland, Red Cross, Order of Malta and CFR Ireland.

For the Junior classes our focus is on knowing how to raise an alarm and what number to call and knowing your Eircode. We have specially designed certs see attached congratulating them for taking part in our CPR programme with a space for them to add their Eircode and display on the fridge at home. We will be asking them to bring in their teddys and we will do practice compressions on them. For the older age group it will be essentially the same but with the added extra of actually showing them CPR and allowing them the opportunity to practice on the mannequins and use an AED. The day is being supported by LMFM radio who are going to follow us and promote our information programme with the school.
